On Saturday, September 18, 2004, our beloved Rick Michaels of St. Simon's in Ironwood, Michigan, became "Deacon Michaels" in the tradition of the Orthodox Church.  On Sunday, September 19, 2004, Rick was ordained into the priesthood and became Fr. Anthony Michaels.  To those of us that have known and loved Rick and watched him prepare for the priesthood over many years, this was a long- awaited and joyous day! Here are a few photos of this momentous occasion. You may also want to read about ordination in an earlier article: "Sacrament of Ordination."

On Saturday, March 13, 2010, Fr. Anthony and Bishop Mark opened the  doors of his brand new Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church.  Fr. Anthony's congregation has worked sacrificially for three years to build this stunning new sanctuary, devoted to the memories of loved ones and the original founders of their congregation. At the bottom of this page, are just a few photos of this amazing structure.  For more photos, please follow this link to St. John's website

For me, the experience was like walking into a living icon.  Barbara West
